Fifty-seven years with the world’s leading orchestras and soloists

Ibermúsica 26/27 will launch its spectacular 57th season on October 13th and 14th with Gustavo Dudamel and the New York Philharmonic on their first tour under his tenure as Music Director of the renowned orchestra. They will be joined by the Orfeó Català and will perform Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5 and Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, alongside several premiere works.

In autumn, Ibermúsica will also welcome the London Philharmonic Orchestra with its Principal Conductor Edward Gardner and soloists Julia Fischer and Daniel Müller-Schott (in a concert celebrating the 150th anniversary of Pau Casals), as well as the Czech Philharmonic under Semyon Bychkov with pianists Behzod Abduraimov and Mao Fujita. The quarter will conclude with the debut in the series of pianist Yunchan Lim in recital, and Handel’s Messiah, performed by Le Concert d’Astrée under Emmanuelle Haïm, with an outstanding lineup of soloists: Lucy Crowe, Carlo Vistoli, Lunga Eric Hallam, and Ashley Riches.

Each concert, a musical journey across the world

Leading international orchestras

The first concert of 2027 will feature the Philharmonia Orchestra under Esa-Pekka Salonen, with pianist Leif Ove Andsnes and violinist Leila Josefowicz, marking their first appearance with Ibermúsica. The Swiss ensemble Musikkollegium Winterthur will follow, led by conductor Roberto González-Monjas making his Ibermúsica debut and joined by cellist Pablo Ferrández, both among the leading figures on today’s international classical scene.

This season's featured artists

The month of January will conclude with the renowned Filarmonica della Scala under its Music Director Riccardo Chailly, joined by cellist Gautier Capuçon, and the historic Deutsche Radio Philharmonie with Josep Pons and soprano Elisabeth Teige in a programme featuring works by Wagner and Richard Strauss.

Another season highlight comes from what many consider to be the world’s finest symphonic orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw, under its Chief Conductor Klaus Mäkelä, with Lisa Batiashvili as soloist. They will present two concerts including works such as Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 and Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique.

In March and April, three further distinguished European orchestras will take the stage: the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra with its new Chief Conductor Marc Albrecht and violinist Augustin Hadelich; the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, also under its Chief Conductor Lorenzo Viotti; and the Bern Symphony Orchestra with Krzysztof Urbański and cellist Sol Gabetta.

Spring will bring a major celebration of Beethoven marking the bicentenary of his death, with the Staatskapelle Dresden and its Chief Conductor Daniele Gatti presenting, across four concerts, a complete cycle of the symphonies paired with four newly commissioned works inspired by the composer from Bonn. Beethoven will also be honoured by The Constellation Choir & Orchestra under its Principal Conductor Sir John Eliot Gardiner, with three of the composer’s major works: the Choral Fantasy, the Mass in C major, and the Triple Concerto, performed by three outstanding soloists: Sir András Schiff, Jean-Guihen Queyras, and Isabelle Faust. In addition, pianist Hélène Grimaud will return to Ibermúsica in recital, performing Beethoven’s final piano sonata alongside Schubert’s Sonata No. 21.

To complete the 2026/2027 season programme, two special concerts will be added to the twenty-four concerts of the main series: the Münchner Philharmoniker under its Chief Conductor Lahav Shani, with Anne-Sophie Mutter celebrating 50 years on stage in a programme featuring works by Brahms and Schubert on Thursday, 11 February; and the Vienna Boys’ Choir with Manolo Cagnin in a matinée performance on Saturday, 6 March.
