Vienna Boys' Choir returns to Ibermúsica once again, bringing with them one of the most legendary choral institutions in European culture. The boys have sung at the Imperial Chapel in Vienna since 1296. In 1498, Emperor Maximilian I moved his court to Vienna, founding the Hofmusikkapelle and the Vienna Boys’ Choir. Over the centuries, the Viennese court attracted celebrated musicians such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Anton Bruckner, while others, including Joseph Haydn, Michael Haydn and Franz Schubert, were themselves members of the choir.
In this extraordinary concert, audiences will enjoy the voices of the Vienna Boys’ Choir in a matinée performance at 11:30 a.m. at the Auditorio Nacional de Música. The programme promises an exciting selection of works including, among others, Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”, Sartori’s “Time to Say Goodbye”, Orff’s “O Fortuna” from Carmina Burana, Verdi’s “Va, pensiero”, and ABBA’s “Mamma Mia”.
