Yunchan Lim makes his debut at Ibermúsica with a recital entirely devoted to Mozart’s piano sonatas, a journey through some of the most inspired pages by the Salzburg composer, written across different stages of his life and reflecting his evolution in piano writing in parallel with the transformation of the instrument during his time.
Sonatas such as No. 7 in C major or No. 9 in D major reveal a more direct Mozart, with brilliant writing and a strong sense of momentum, while in No. 13 in B-flat major the discourse becomes more balanced and texturally more refined. The programme thus moves from a lighter, more elegant idiom towards a broader and more elaborate writing style, culminating in Sonata No. 11 in A major, whose celebrated “Alla turca” finale is one of the most recognisable pages in the entire piano repertoire.
