MESSIAEN Turangalila Symphony
The Turangalîla-Symphony by Olivier Messiaen, one of the most visionary works of the twentieth century, is the centerpiece of this concert by the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya under the direction of Jonathan Nott, with the participation of pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard.
Composed between 1946 and 1948, Messiaen himself described it as a “hymn to love and joy.” Monumental in scope and musical richness, the work combines orchestral exuberance, rhythmic complexity, and the mysticism characteristic of the French composer.
